career development

I have recently been invited to teach Animation for the Design course at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. It is very gratifying being able to return to the college where I have studied, as a faculty member, and I sincerely hope I can contribute to the institution and its students.
The course has seen great improvement since when I was a student. Specially regarding animation, which was a underdeveloped area at the time. I hope I can share some student content here soon.

Masters’ Dissertation

career development

People close to me might be aware that, for the last year and a half, I have been atending to the masters program at the post-graduate program of Design at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina(Brazil). I have also use that as an excuse to not perform many  time consuming activities like freelance jobs, friend gatherings and others. Tomorrow this excuse will be over with.

At 9am. in the Drummond Auditiorium I’ll be presenting my masters’ dissertation entitled: The quality of the stereoscopic effect assessed in relation to different image creation methods. The session will be open to members of academy and society in general.

good news

career development, research and development, training

A couple good news in a role this month!

Last week I finally made to the 1.0 version of my plug-in (called Motion Tools) for Autodesk Softimage. I’ve talked about this in previous posts, but basically it is a collection of tools to aid motion graphics work. It eases the use of the ICE framework for the creation, procedural animation and simulation of many many objects. For more info, please visit: http://gustavoeb.com.br/mtools/

Besides that, I’m proud to anounce that together with the guys at Melies School of Cinema and Animation (in São Paulo, Brazil), I’ve prepared a 1 week workshop on ICE. The idea is to avoid the tutorial approach and dive into the concepts behind technical direction and simulation. This workshop will take place at Melies’ building, between the 24th and the 28th of September. For those in Brazil, call (11) 5573-1095 for more info.

new work

career development

After Siggraph and after living for two years in São Paulo I’m finally back to my home town Florianópolis. I have much to thank all the people at Melies and Ilegal FX for they thought me so much, and made all this worthed.

Now back home, I’ll be working at MidiaEffects a very nice post house in the south of Brazil. As usual, as the work gets done I hope to post it here.

Ps: I’ll gather all the information I brought from Siggraph and post the things I grabbed my attention the most in this blog.
